Electric Supply to Return to Gaza

In the coming days the supply of electricity, which was stopped by request of the Palestinian Authority, will return to the Gaza Strip. Leah Goldin: "Failure to return Hadar for burial is considered a crime in Islam"

In recent weeks, the Palestinian Authority (PA) had requested the return of the electricity supply to Gaza be reinstated, which the PA been decided to reduce in June of 2017. The PA is obligated to pay the cost of the electric supply provided to Gaza by Israel. Israel received the request, and after deliberation, has agreed to the PA’s request, and in the coming days the electricity supplied by Israel will be returned to 120 megawatts as it was prior to June of 2017. This electricity is supplied to the Gaza Strip from Israel via ten high voltage lines. Israel is motivated by purely humanitarian reasons when it comes to this issue, and will thus reinstate the electric supply previously provided.

It is important to note that, over a year ago, the Israeli cabinet approved, in principle, the supply of an additional 100 megawatts to the Gaza Strip, separate from the current 120 megawatts to be supplied.

However humanitarian issues are not one-sided. Currently, the bodies of IDF soldiers, Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, are being held captive in the Gaza Strip, a clear violation of human rights. The State of Israel will not act and will not finalize the additional 100 megawatts of electricity before humanitarian issues such as the return of the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul and the return of additional Israeli citizens held in Gaza are discussed.

Attached below to this article is a request from Leah Goldin, the mother of Hadar Goldin, whose body is being held captive in the Gaza Strip:

"The people of Gaza, mothers, fathers and children, the kidnapping of bodies is unacceptable and inhuman, every mother wants to visit her son's grave and the inability to return Goldin Hadar for his burial is considered a crime in Islam. The cynical use of corpses contradicts the human conscience. Do not be held hostages by the terrorist organization Hamas. Humanitarianism and humanity must be mutual. "
